Background:
Two core projects:
Brand – a Provincial, Municipal, Aliant
and Community group project to deploy DSL (high speed internet)
to the rural communities in the Atlantic Provinces.
IPTV – Internet Protocol Television – TV
over DSL to the home to compete against Eastlink the local
cable provider in Halifax.
Aliant purchased DSL product and cabinets from
Alcatel NA to complete their obligation to the Brand project
and compete in a first in Canada IPTV deployment to compete with
a local cable company to retain market share in the local telephone
market.
Alcatel Canada was engaged to perform turn-key
services to install new cabinets inside a 1km cable loop of its
subscribers and install the new DSL equipment to deliver a 20meg
connection to each residence.
